Steve Chinn

Durango, Colorado

Steve Chinn grew up in Colorado watching his father behind the camera making stunning photographs of everyday people as well as beautiful models. His father’s creative eye made him a longtime, well-known portrait photographer in Southern Colorado. Steve, as a child, never thought about being behind the camera. However, over two decades ago, the camera eventually found its way into his naturally creative nature. After studying art, graphic design, advertising and printing in school, as well as many years of teaching skiing and tennis and traveling the world (for both work and recreation), Steve eventually had opportunities that caused him to be drawn behind the camera. He honed his skills and developed his own unique, creative eye while working on a large variety of commercial opportunities and fine art applications, including freelance work, art shows, gallery exhibits, restaurants exhibits, and decor, acquiring accolades in various publications, and teaching photography at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards, Colorado for ten years. He strives to have his photographic visuals, depending on the project or subject, to be unique, simple, playful, emotive or soul stirring. His wide variety of work has been published in local, national, and international publications. Steve has resided in Durango for six years after living in Avon, Colorado for thirty years.
